Picking Paint Colors

Picking the paint color for your house can be challenging; adding accent colors increases the challenge! (But accent colors can really make your home shine, if the choices are good.) Even if you plan on using white as the primary color, “white” actually comes in many subtle shades which will be affected by light conditions, climate, etc. (Light reflected on satin finishes affects the perception of the color.) Further, paint swatches cannot convey how a color will look on a large surface.

If you’re struggling with or concerned about your color choices, help is available! In your local Sherwin Williams stores you can get free brochures that illustrate color-schemes created by color experts, and the stores have areas set up to mimic varying lighting conditions so you can get a sense of how the colors stand up to strong sun, heavy cloud-cover, etc.

Sherwin Williams also offers tools to help: a Paint Color Visualizer, and an array of Color Consultation services with trained color experts.
