About OPPW

Roger Begue, Owner

Roger Begue, owner of Ohio Painting & Pressure Wash, spent his early years pursuing a career as a professional baseball player. At the age of 10, Roger fell in love with the game and played in various leagues throughout his childhood and teen years. By the time he left high school, Roger had grown to his full height of 6’ 4” and in 1978 he signed a contract with the Kansas City Royals as a right handed pitching prospect. Additionally he pitched with the Detroit Tigers and New York Mets. He rose through the ranks and in 1982 he eventually signed a AAA spring training contract with the New York Mets.

While Roger was pursuing his baseball dream, during the offseason he joined his brothers in painting houses. In 1985, after his professional baseball career had ended, Roger founded Ohio Painting & Pressure Wash.

Working and Playing

As his professional painting business was growing, Roger continued to play in several amateur baseball leagues in northeast Ohio. In 1998, his team, the Canton Stallions, won the AABC Stan Musial World Series. For his feats on the baseball field that year, Roger was included in the Faces in the Crowd feature of Sports Illustrated’s November 9, 1998 issue.

In 2001, his team, the Akron A’s, won the AAAA Roy Hobbs World Series with Roger pitching the team to four wins.

Meanwhile Roger grew his business and nurtured a strong team of skilled painting crews who complete projects successfully and on-time.

For many years Roger balanced his two passions: baseball and OPPW, but a battle with cancer led him to retire from the game. Throughout, OPPW continued to thrive, weathering economic ups, downs and disruptions
