OPPW serves Cuyahoga, Summit, Portage, Stark and Medina Counties and this area of Ohio experiences a broad range of weather conditions, from hot summers to cold winters with varying humidities throughout.
The ideal temperatures for exterior paint and primer application are between 50°F and 85°F, with a bit of room on either side, depending on humidity levels. That means the painting season in Ohio generally runs from late-Spring to mid-Autumn. Some years will be characterized by long periods of drought and low humidity; some years have excessive rain and high humidity; most have spells of both!
At OPPW we do our best to schedule our projects within appropriate weather tolerances and equally, we do our best to meet projected schedules. But sometimes Mother Nature intervenes, despite everyone’s best intentions. We will always make good-faith decisions about our work, so that your paint-job has optimal results. Sometimes that means paint application happens earlier in the day, sometimes later — depending on temperatures, strength of the direct sunlight, prevailing humidity, etc. Sometimes we’ll need to allow additional time for coatings to properly dry. Sometimes we need to wait a day or two for temperatures to warm up or extremely high humidity to decrease.
Fortunately, applying primer and paint takes less time than does set-up and surface preparation. Everything we do up to actual priming and painting can be done in less than ideal weather conditions. Further, the primers and paints we use are formulated to dry quickly and work well in our climate.
